Founded by Tiger Woods in 1996, TGR Foundation empowers youth from underserved communities by providing them with education opportunities. Since its inception, the organization has impacted over two million students globally.
Programs offered by the TGR Foundation equip students with the resources and assistance required to explore their passions, enrich their understanding, and acquire adaptable skills that resonate with their career aspirations. The foundation aims to positively impact students' lives by offering resources for college access, career preparation, and science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) based experiential learning.
The TGR Learning Lab integrates modern technology, dynamic learning environments, and innovative year-round programming to offer students access to enhanced education and real-world experiences. It provides immersive STEM experiences for upper elementary students and their teachers, along with after-school and summer classes and workshops for middle and high school students. The foundation operates labs nationwide through satellite Learning Lab programs in Washington, D.C., South Florida, Philadelphia, MCB Quantico, Cobbs Creek in Philadelphia, and Lulu’s Place in Los Angeles.
Each learning lab class utilizes an engaging, hands-on, project-based format. It focuses on integrating college access and career exploration into all courses. The subjects align with careers in biotechnology, artificial intelligence, cyber security, podcasting, and drone technology.
TGR Foundation offers a comprehensive College Access program for high school and college-age students. It aims to support them as they navigate their path through higher education options and into their careers.
The College Access program includes multilingual workshops for students and their families to assist them with college applications and financial aid processes. Additionally, recruitment events and panels featuring university representatives allow students to explore their college education options. For students in the 11th and 12th grades, the College Bound Academy offers an intensive college preparation camp. The Earl Woods Scholar Program provides ongoing support, mentoring, internships, and career preparation programming for college students from under-resourced communities.
Career readiness remains a cornerstone program offered by the TGR Foundation. The program provides students with the necessary tools and resources to help them make informed decisions about their high school studies and develop a plan for their post-secondary education. It also includes experiential interest and aptitude assessments, workshops on building essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, and professionalism, and advisor-led training sessions to prepare students for the workforce. Students also receive guidance in resume writing and mock interviewing.
Work-based learning opportunities help students in the 10th to 12th grades access immersive real-world experiences tailored to their career interests. These experiences aim to support their post-secondary plans and empower them to impact their community positively. Students participating in the program can receive skills training, pre-internship support, team projects offered in collaboration with TGR Foundation partners, internship placements, job shadow days, and certificate programs.
Finally, TGR Foundation has expanded and digitized its STEM curricula and college-access programs to reach millions of underrepresented students globally. Interactive resources tailored for grades six to 12 cultivate problem-solving and decision-making abilities applicable to real-world scenarios in college access, STEM education, language arts, and beyond.
